Train To Be A Potter At The Leach Pottery

Applications to become our third Seasalt apprentice at the world renowned Leach Pottery in St Ives are now open!
As part of our Modern Creatives project, we will be offering one lucky person the enviable opportunity to train and study as a potter.
Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Japanese artist, Shoji Hamada, the Leach Pottery is now a UK charity. Alongside promoting the work and life of Bernard Leach, it also works to further the development of studio pottery and encourage young talent through its studio and education programme.

We want to invite someone with no experience or skills in pottery but bags of enthusiasm and creativity and provide them with the best possible training experience to become a fully-fledged potter.”
With long-held strong links to the creative community, particularly, in St Ives, we are delighted to provide backing for this innovative 24-month foundation scheme.
Neil Chadwick, our co-founder and chairman, said, “We’ve always loved and been inspired by St. Ives and its artistic heritage. We’ve been involved with the Leach to some degree for many years and the Seasalt Bursary feels like the next exciting step together.”
