The Way to Minack

The dramatic coastline around the Minack Theatre inspires tactile layers and winter florals.

The far west of Cornwall sets the scene for stories old and new, of big dreams and simple lives well lived. Our autumnal collection is woven with tales of the land and its rhythms, from Derek Tangye’s diaries of his clifftop cottage in Dorminack to the curved layers of the Minack Theatre.

This unique, open-air theatre is cut from a rocky outcrop facing the sea. The wind whips the waves against the rocks below, misting subtropical plants dotted between granite stones.

The shapes of its hewn rock inspires angular prints, and we’ve woven the naturally layered strata of the cliffs through tonal melanges and the tactile stitches of luxurious knitwear. The brave winter flowers and lush, hilltop greens flow across vintage-inspired silhouettes, while the fresh sea air calls for warmly textured knitwear.

The Knitwear Edit

Crafted with an eye for colour and quality, our cardigans and jumpers are always inspired by the heritage of our coastal home. We want pieces to be warm, breathable and durable, with details that feel as good as they look.

We’ll often reference the patterns used in traditional fishermen’s jumpers, using garter, tuck and cable stitches to evoke the texture of windswept waves or rippled sand, or a geometric Fair Isle to bring the palette of a collection together.

Our knitwear designer, Carina, works closely with our suppliers, using custom melange dyes to create deep, rich colours. This season, autumnal berry tones are picked straight from the Cornish coast as a complement to deep sea greens and maritime blues.

“I really liked the idea of referencing traditional Fair Isles and making them feel relevant and modern through the combination of colours that I use.” – Carina Hazelgrave, Knitwear Designer

In the colder months, we often use wool as a base fibre, including luxurious merino and lambswool.

Our design and buying teams work hard to ensure our knitwear is crafted from high quality and responsibly sourced wool, keeping them soft on the skin and kind to the environment.
