Introducing Our Seasalt Concept Shop With A Lighter Touch

We’re delighted to unveil our first concept shop. Its pioneering design makes use of locally sourced, natural materials and has a 68.5% lower carbon footprint

Living and working by the sea is a daily reminder to do better by our planet. We’re hugely proud of our new shop on Castle Street in Norwich, as it’s a showcase for the ways we’re innovating to protect our natural world.

We were delighted to meet our new local community during opening weekend, and celebrated by giving out some Cornish gift bags full of treats. It was wonderful to see some good old-fashioned shopping, with close family members safely browsing together. Click on the images above to get a flavour for our first day.

Seasalt Norwich represents next generation retail design for Seasalt, reducing the shop’s carbon footprint by more than a two thirds. Our new Norwich shop uses UK-sourced materials to create versatile furniture and fittings that can be easily moved, reused and repurposed – all designed to reduce our environmental impact.

All the fixtures and fittings have been chosen for their sustainable features and with longevity and flexibility in mind. The furniture and fittings are made from FSC certified, birch-faced plywood, while the flooring is made using 100% renewable electricity and every component can be reused or recycled at the end of its useful life.

Our store designers have carefully considered every décor detail, from the distinctive lighting, which is handmade from Cornish and Somerset-grown willow to the upholstery fabric, which is made from wool in Yorkshire.

  • OUR FLOORING is fully reusable and made using 100% renewable energy.
  • OUR LIGHTING is crafted from hand-woven Cornish and Somerset grown willow.
  • OUR UPHOLSTERY is made in Yorkshire from wool, which is a natural, renewable and biodegradable.
  • OUR FURNITURE is made from versatile and beautiful birch-faced plywood that’s FSC certified.
  • OUR SURFACES are made from lovely natural materials that can eventually be recycled or composted at the end of their useful life.

Along with its sustainable aims, opening our new shop at this time shows our ongoing belief in and support for the high street. When our family business started, almost 40 years ago, we sold workwear to the painters, potters and fishermen of St Ives and Penzance and this combination of utilitarian and artistic influences is reflected in our new interior design. As is our pioneering spirit! We were the first clothing brand to be awarded Soil Association GOTS certification for the use of organic cotton and our new shop is the perfect backdrop for our sustainable, organic and recycled fabrics.

We’d love to hear what you think, so pop in and see it for yourself! Find us at 1-3 Castle Street, Norwich NR2 1PB.
