Alyson Walsh’s Knitwear Edit

Fashion journalist Alyson Walsh styles her favourite knits from our latest collection.

When it comes to seasonal dressing, I much prefer the structure, colour and texture of winter clothes. At this time of year, I feel more relaxed about my outfits; it’s almost as if I trust the durable knit and utilitarian trousers more than a flighty summer dress. I’m at home in these wardrobe essentials and the sturdier fabrics have got my back.

Designed with longevity in mind, Seasalt’s classic knitwear is perfect for everyday and will take you from one winter to the next.

The Lemon Porch Fair Isle Jumper in gorgeous earthy colours is an autumn classic.  Blend textures and tones by teaming the chunky pullover with cotton workwear-inspired trousers and lace-up leather ankle boots, add the lovely Trenwheal Coat for a fine yet functional combination.

The East View Sweater Vest (call me old-fashioned but I still prefer to call it a tank top) is quite possibly my favourite item of clothing right now. Easy to pull on over a striped Sailor Top and lovely olive-coloured corduroy trousers; it is a most excellent layering piece.

Proving its versatility, the East View sleeveless knit works with a patterned midi dress, a classic shirt or organic cotton blouse. Whatever you decide to call this garment, it’s a wardrobe winner.

Sometimes a colour combination just works. The Holly Blue Cardigan’s taupe body provides the perfect backdrop to the scrumptious shades of berry red, caramel and duck egg blue in the striking, geometric pattern across the yoke.

I’ve paired it with the navy corduroy Porfell Trousers and the red Breany Leather Cross-Body Bag; but this elegant cardi would look equally good dressed down with a pair of old, faded jeans and leather loafers. Comfort, versatility and staying power, these are clothes that work in real life.
